Name: Jim Hishiyikagayami
Age: 18
School: Unattended
Birthday: February 4th
Zodiac: Aquarius
Relationship: Single
Income: Whatever I find in the streets
Occupation: Professional wandering Japanese American hobo.
I, Jim Hishiyikagayami have joined the armed forces. Me and 32,999
other Japanese Americans have put on our uniforms to
fight for this country. Despite the discrimination in the military more than
300,000 Mexican Americans joined the armed forces as well. About one
million African Americans served in the military also. but they were limited
to non combat roles. After protesting, they finally got a chance to
fight in the last year of the war (Danzer et al. 564). 13,000 Chinese
Americans joined the military as well, which is about one out of
every five adult males. Several thousand of the Japanese
Americans were sent as spies in the Pacific War.
Our friends the Native Americans also joined the war.
25,000 enlisted and 800 were women ("Teacher"). America
had a lot of support from us minorities. We
were proud to be able to fight in the war. The Saturday
Evening Post even commented on the Native Americans.
They said "We would not need the Selective Service
if all volunteered like Indians" ("Enotes").
This goes to show show that we minorities can help aid the country's need
in the face of war.
